Hello CMHS/MS Parents and Students,

It has come to our attention that students have been receiving letters from "Right C3." If you received a letter from "Right C3" college planning please proceed with caution. Costa Mesa High School did not authorize for this letter to be sent. This company "Right C3" is fee-for-service and will charge you for the appointment and any other continued advising. This company has a history of complaints and is not recommended by Costa Mesa High School. The information provided by this company can be accessed for free on other sites, including our own. (

If you receive any other letters or emails offering financial aid/scholarship or college assistance please communicate with Counseling or the College & Career Center to ensure that it legitimate.

When applying for scholarships and financial aid programs, beware of any offer that is asking for advance fees or secure financial information. Scholarships should not be asking for your social security number or credit card information.

Additionally, Look out for these tell-tale lines:

  • “The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back”
  • “You can’t get this information anywhere else”
  • “We just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship”
  • “We’ll do all the work. You just pay a processing fee”
  • “The scholarship will cost some money”
  • “You’ve been selected by a national foundation” you haven’t heard of

For questions or assistance with college applications, financial aid, or scholarships please see your counselor or the College & Career Center.

Thank you for reading,
